Summary: Pollan writes a letter to the president about food. He talks about how food should not be all about profit but should focus on being healthy for the people of the united states. He address several ways to make the food industry better in the US. One way talked about is growing food more organically. The letter says that the industry now wants to produce masses of food at the cheapest cost possible, and this should be a concern.
Synthesis: This letter can be synthesized with Glenn because both authors talk about how to farm animals better. They are both looking at the same discourse community. It can relate to porter because it is looking at discourse community, and the language used within a community. It could relate to Allen because it was eye opening to think about how the food industry really holds so much power over people.

I picked this because I had never thought of this as something that was weak. I just thought this was interesting to view the idea of terrorist attacking something as simple as the food supply.

This could be hard to manage in our world today because so many people have full time jobs and the pace of life is so much quicker that no one would have time to raise a farm.

I know in the schools in my home town they really are tying to make food healthier for children and educate them where food comes from. but I think this quote takes it one step further by teaching the kids to garden. and cook.

Overall I thought this was interesting to read. I learned a lot about the food/ farming discourse community and think i will pay more attention to where my food is coming from. I also liked that this was in a letter because it made it interesting to read.
